 Important Google Algorithm Update 

To improve the quality of Google search results Google introduce Algorithm  Updates in the year 2011.Google appoint Matt Cutts for the functioning of the updates. The algorithm updates are:-

1.Google Panda Update/Google Farmer Update. 

Panda updates are introduced against the content spamming. It is used to reduce content duplication,content spinning,thin page in search result, keyword stuffing etc. 

Algorithm update

In 2014 Google introduced Panda 4.0. Here Panda add as a permanent filter in Google. It will remove all content spamming automatically.

2.Google Penguin Update 

It was introduced in 2012 against link spamming conducted by web masters. Some low quality websites appeared in higher position while searching because of link spamming. They will punished by penguin. Link spamming is due to the paid link sellers, link exchange, automated links, comment spamming, link spamming, wiki spamming and by increasing guest blogging.

On 2014 September Google introduced Penguin 4.0. Here penguin punishment make as real time punishment. But it success working on October.

3.Google Pigeon update

It was introduced in 2014. This update is aimed at the ranking of local listing in a search. It targeting the local audience. This update provides the result based on the user location.

4.Google Humming Bird Updation

Using this update Google provide semantic or deep search results. More interactive.

5.Rank Brain

It is the updation of humming bird. This update introduced in 2015. Here Google used Artificial Intelligence (AI). It focuses on conversation and meaning. It act as a human.

6.Mobile Friendly Update/Mobile Geddon Update 


This updation increases the ranking for pages that are legible and usable on mobile phones. Web pages or apps should be mobile friendly. The text should readable without tapping or zooming. The tap targets should spaced properly. Must avoid the horizontal scrolling.

AMP - Accelerated  Mobile Pages is introduced in 2017.It is mainly for mobile web browsing.To help web pages to load fast.

7.Park Domain Updates (April-2012) 

A park domain is a registered domain name that's not linked to a website or email. It has no content. This update was introduced to never index the park domain while searching Google. 

8.Exact Match Domain

It is an update launched by Google in 2012.Exact match domain is develop to prevent poor quality sites from ranking.

9.Pirate

Google pirate is an updation launched in 2012 to prevent sites with many copyright reports as filed through Google's DMCA system (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) from ranking in Google list.

Bracket update launched in 2018 by Google.

11.Possum

Possum is an update to Google's local search rankings and it decides when business will show up in local search results. Google provide results according to location, time etc.
